Miles behind man city.

Well at present Liverpool are higher in the league aren't they? so what point do you think you are making? And how many City fans came out of the woodwork when they won trophies bought with mega Arab money

Liverpool have won 1 title in about 30 years, look what city have done in the last 10,
That spoils your silly who is higher in the league.

Are you stupid or just pretending to be? Has football only existed for the last ten years? Like i said go look in the record books... See who has won the most. And it was you who said " at present im on about " So how does that spoil my so called higher in the league when it's true that " at present ". Liverpool are higher than City? How old are you 12? 13? You certainly aren't grown up.

A look at the record books from the onset of the P L would be interesting .
Most titles won .
Most points won.
Most home grown players used .
Etc Etc .
Pleased we showed more resilience today and could have won it late on .
One P L game in January .
Get our missing players back and lets see .
Keep the faith .

So what topic are you trying to debate then Pussy? You came out with the silly comment that Liverpool are miles behind City but they are behind Liverpool in the league .And in total history City are a million miles away from Liverpool. Seems like you can't handle the truth kid. You can't win any debate between City and Liverpool... It's absolutely no contest who has won the most trophies. Just the same as you couldn't win a debate between City and United again it's absolutely no contest. Just because you have jumped on the Arab money bandwagon and City have been top dogs for a few years and bought trophies you think they are a top club... They aren't and never will be. So jog on Dickbrains.

Let's go back to the onset of the first division and use the same records

Well sad sack all this "shouting" for the scousers and "praying for the Arabs" doesn't seem to be working does it
I have just had a look back in the record books and was astounded (not really ) to discover that the winner of the most League titles (the true measure of the best football team, forget cup games where a dodgy decision or a bad ten minutes can cost you a one off game) in the top division of the English game since the advent of Association Football is none other than........ Manchester United

Almost correct. Other than a dodgy decision or a bad ten minutes can also cause you to lose points in a game and deny you winning the league.

But surely over the course of a season the odd dodgy decision will even itself out compared to a ninety minute game?
Obviously if you can point to a campaign where a team has come second in the league close enough to the winner to say one bad decision has cost us the title and where the winner couldn't point to bad decisions they have had in the same season and said there you go I will take your point

To say bad decisions balance themselves out over the course of the season has neither been proved or disproved... As far as i am concerned it has always been a throwaway comment. No one knows in any given season if any team has been affected more than any other and what it may have cost them .And whether teams have won or lost the title due to bad decisions or moments of bad play who knows? You can also throw moments of good luck into the mix.

Ok then you seem to think that one dodgy decision in a one off knockout game has no more effect than one dodgy decision in a full league season, we will have to agree to disagree on that one.
It is a proven fact though that any scientific study gives a better mean average result the longer the study has been taken place.

A link to one?
It is pure common sense that any test done over a longer period will give a more accurate reading than a snapshot.
Either way it is widely regarded that the best team usually wins the league over the course of a season and we can all name teams who have won cups who were not.
I can also recall one bad decision in a knockout cup game giving a manager an entirety different career, not only changing the result of a game.
Anyway it was actually the scousers who used the league title winning method as the yardstick of the best team (until enough United overtook them ) then European cups strangely started getting brought into the equation.
